Job Description

Overview

The Director, Data Governance and Security at Princeton University will play a crucial role within the Data Strategy & Innovation team, focusing on managing and securing data to support University Advancement's engagement efforts. This leadership position involves overseeing data governance, data management, and data security policies while facilitating effective communication between various stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage role-based access to alumni and donor data within Advancement systems.
  • Develop and maintain data access governance policies.
  • Update confidentiality agreements and track signoffs from relevant constituencies.
  • Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel to ensure policy relevance and accuracy.
  • Oversee internal processes to improve access to alumni and donor data.
  • Maintain a data governance framework aligned with University objectives.
  • Establish a roadmap for application, information, and data security tools with the CISO office.
  • Communicate and implement new security tools and policies for Advancement systems.
  • Set and direct data integrity and data hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure data is used in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Manage record retention policies in line with Advancement and University requirements.
  • Support data-driven decision-making through data management initiatives.
  • Monitor quality control of data collection and entry.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, ensuring thorough documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Assess and enhance the data management program to adapt to new technologies and regulations.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned.
