Overview

The Director of Commercial Banking in the Corporate Finance Group at BMO Financial is responsible for managing a commercial lending portfolio and facilitating the growth of the Bank through business development and strong client relationships. This role involves assessing financing opportunities, preparing credit recommendations, and coordinating with other teams for seamless client service.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a commercial lending portfolio and support the origination of new clients
  • Facilitate growth initiatives through business development and client relationship management
  • Prepare credit recommendations by analyzing financial and operational data
  • Lead and execute business development plans
  • Act as a key contact for clients on credit-related questions
  • Conduct sales activities including pitch preparation and client research
  • Coordinate service administration to ensure a seamless client experience
  • Make strategic recommendations to senior leaders
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Address complex and non-routine situations creatively

Required skills

  • Master's or MBA degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience or undergraduate degree with 5-7 years of experience
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CBV, or CFA is an asset
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and team skills
  • Negotiation skills with clients and legal counsel
  • Organizational and multitasking ability in time-sensitive situations
