Job Description

Overview

The Director of Commercial Banking at BMO Financial, located in Toronto, Ontario, is responsible for managing a commercial lending portfolio and supporting the origination of new clients. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining strong client relationships and facilitating significant business development initiatives within the Corporate Finance team.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze a commercial lending portfolio with complex client requirements.
  • Facilitate business development plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Prepare credit recommendations based on financial and operational data analysis.
  • Conduct annual and interim reviews, ensuring timely management of portfolio risks.
  • Act as a key contact for clients regarding credit-related questions.
  • Participate in sales activities, including pitch preparation and client research.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Provide independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.

Required skills

  • Master's or MBA degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience or 5-7 years with an undergraduate degree.
  • CPA, CBV, CFA, or other relevant professional designation is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration and team skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Negotiation skills with clients and legal counsel.
