Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a Director & Actuary for the VA & RILA Valuation and Projection team, located in Newport Beach, Omaha, or Charlotte. This role involves overseeing a team and managing periodic GAAP and economic valuation processes while fostering collaboration and communication among stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a staff of actuaries and business analysts by setting clear objectives and expectations.
  • Direct and oversee the completion of periodic GAAP and economic valuation processes.
  • Lead development of analysis to explain GAAP and economic financial results.
  • Ensure appropriate valuation controls.
  • Engage key stakeholders to drive timely decision-making.
  • Implement process improvements, automation, and efficiencies.
  • Foster collaboration and manage workloads within the team.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • FSA designation
  • 8+ years of actuarial experience
  • 3+ years of experience post-FSA designation
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members
  • Prior experience with variable annuities and RILA
  • Familiarity with post-LDTI GAAP requirements
  • Prophet experience
  • Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills
