Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a talented Director & Actuary to join their VA & RILA Valuation and Projection team. This leadership role involves overseeing GAAP and economic valuation processes and guiding a team of actuaries and business analysts. The position is based primarily in Newport Beach, CA, with options for relocation assistance for those not currently near an office.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of actuaries and business analysts
  • Oversee periodic GAAP and economic valuation processes
  • Provide insights and guidance for financial results analysis
  • Engage stakeholders to drive timely decision-making
  • Implement process improvements and efficiencies
  • Communicate project updates and manage expectations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • FSA designation
  • 8+ years of actuarial experience, with at least 3 years post-FSA
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members
  • Passion for team development
  • Familiarity with variable annuities, RILA, and valuation modeling
  • Knowledge of post-LDTI GAAP requirements
  • Prophet experience
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
