Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a Director & Actuary for their Annuity Product Development team in Newport Beach, CA. This role involves leading a team of actuaries to develop and price new annuity products, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term strategy while balancing competitiveness, profit, and risk.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team of actuaries to develop, price, and support new annuity products.
  • Balance product profit, risk, and market competitiveness.
  • Design and price products according to profit and risk management guidelines.
  • Oversee pricing models for various types of annuities.
  • Support pricing and analysis for growth across retail annuity product portfolios.
  • Integrate industry and market trends into product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to foster strategic growth.
  • Identify enhancements to tools and processes for pricing analysis.
  • Independently lead dynamic projects and present designs and risks to senior management.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or similar field
  • FSA designation
  • At least 10 years of actuarial experience, preferably in annuity pricing and risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Experience pricing/managing immediate annuities
  • Previous management experience with a small team
