Job Description

Overview

The Direct Support Professional for Residential Services in LaPorte County is responsible for assisting individuals with disabilities in their personal health care needs and promoting their independent functioning skills. This role includes planning and implementing daily activities, providing medication administration, and maintaining a safe environment for clients in both home and community settings.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend to personal health care needs of individuals with disabilities
  • Plan and implement daily schedules for community-based programming
  • Maintain records and compliance with agency requirements
  • Transport individuals to and from the agency or various activities
  • Provide client supervision to ensure health and safety compliance
  • Implement behavior plans and provide 1:1 or group training
  • Assist with personal care needs such as toileting and feeding
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for participants
  • Coordinate food service and curriculum for clients
  • Complete required documentation and submit it on time

Required skills

  • Good public relations and communication skills
  • Ability to respond to medical and emergency needs
  • Basic knowledge of various disability types and curriculum planning
  • Valid driver's license or PPC license
  • Basic math skills
