Overview

Comhar Inc. is looking for compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or autism in Glenside, PA. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and promoting community engagement, ensuring dignity and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered support to individuals in a residential setting
  • Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene and household tasks
  • Support meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition
  • Administer medications according to guidelines
  • Safely operate vehicles to transport consumers as needed
  • Complete accurate documentation for assigned duties
  • Report crises or concerns to the Site Manager
  • Participate in team meetings and training activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of consumer information
  • Provide crisis intervention and assist at other sites when cross trained

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current PA Driver's License with satisfactory driving record
  • Six months of experience in an IDD residential facility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of COMHAR policies and regulations
  • Attention to detail for resident safety and vehicle operation
  • Ability to work with individuals with emotional and cognitive challenges
  • Skill in managing multiple tasks and priorities
