Job Description

Overview

COMHAR Inc. is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Glenside, PA. The DSP will assist with daily living activities while ensuring the dignity and privacy of consumers in a residential setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respectful, person-centered support to individuals in a residential setting.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and household tasks.
  • Support meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition.
  • Administer medications according to guidelines.
  • Safely operate vehicles to transport consumers as needed.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation for all assigned duties.
  • Report crises or unusual incidents to the Site Manager immediately.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of consumer information.
  • Provide crisis intervention using approved techniques.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current PA Driver's License with satisfactory driving record
  • Six months of related experience in an IDD residential facility or related environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of consumer records
  • Working knowledge of COMHAR policies and regulations
  • Attention to detail for safety and vehicle operation
  • Ability to work well with individuals with emotional and cognitive challenges
  • Strong task and priority management skills
