Overview

Sevita, through its REM Community Services division, is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This role is focused on providing essential community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring they live fulfilling and independent lives. The position involves supporting individuals either in residential settings or periodic programs, focusing on personal care, health maintenance, and skill development.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct support in accordance with individual service and program plans.
  • Assist individuals with personal care and daily activities including housekeeping, transportation, and community integration.
  • Accurately document progress and maintain confidentiality of individuals' records.
  • Support individuals in managing their budgets and making informed choices.
  • Report any incidents of abuse or neglect and maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Administer medications and document their delivery as required.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments and communicate relevant health information.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with individual dietary needs and preferences.
  • Participate in ongoing training and team meetings to enhance skills.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for individuals served.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six months of experience in human services preferred
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to lift and move individuals safely
