You'll manage the department, but you should also understand the equipment and processes well enough to work with operators, troubleshoot production problems, improve workflows, and keep work moving.The plant produces a diverse mix of commercial print, including marketing materials, brochures, booklets, direct mail, personalized and variable-data work, short-run publications, and other high-quality digital products. Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation of the digital production departmentLead, train, coach, and develop Digital Press Operators and production personnelCoordinate staffing, scheduling, workloads, and production prioritiesEnsure jobs are completed on time and to customer specificationsMonitor productivity, quality, waste, downtime, and department performanceEstablish and maintain production standards and proceduresWork with operators to troubleshoot equipment and print-quality problemsMaintain high standards for color, registration, image quality, and consistencyCoordinate preventative maintenance and equipment serviceImprove department workflow and overall equipment utilizationIdentify bottlenecks and implement process improvementsWork closely with Prepress, Customer Service, Scheduling, Bindery, Mailing, Quality, and Plant ManagementHelp evaluate new equipment, software, automation, and production technologyMaintain a safe, organized, efficient production environmentRecruit, train, and develop employees as the department continues to grow Experience We're Looking For Candidates should have previous digital printing production leadership experience in a commercial printing, direct mail, transactional, or similar high-volume print environment.Experience with production equipment such as:HP Indigo Canon imagePRESS Canon varioPRINT Ricoh Pro Xerox Iridesse Xerox iGen Konica Minolta AccurioPress Kodak NEXFINITY Similar Production Digital EquipmentThe company is interested in people who understand more than a specific make or model of press.
