Job Description

Overview

As a Diesel Technician Apprentice at Love's Travel Stops, you will work in a dynamic environment focused on providing top-notch service to customers and drivers. This position is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined but may not have previous professional experience; comprehensive training will be provided during the apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist customers with roadside services
  • Learn and perform preventative maintenance services
  • Engage in electrical diagnostics and repairs
  • Conduct air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs
  • Perform wheel end assembly diagnostics and repairs
  • Carry out air system diagnostics and repairs
  • Execute air brakes diagnostics and repairs
  • Conduct charging system diagnostics and repairs
  • Utilize basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement
  • Manage parts lookup and acquisition
  • Follow safety policies and procedures while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Work a rotating schedule that includes both day and night shifts
  • Lift and move 75+ pounds while working in close quarters
  • Adapt to various temperature conditions
  • Obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation

Required skills

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Experience in diesel mechanics (not required)
  • Knowledge of electrical diagnostics
  • Proficiency in air conditioning and heating repairs
  • Capability to perform brakes diagnostics
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance
  • Strong customer service skills
