Overview

Leonard's Express is seeking a Diesel Shop Manager to lead their high-performance diesel shop in Farmington, NY. This role involves overseeing shop operations, leading a team of technicians, and ensuring that fleet maintenance meets safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day shop operations for a busy Class A truck & trailer facility
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to technicians
  • Facilitate communication between the shop, drivers, and operations
  • Maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards
  • Oversee scheduling, workflow planning, and performance metrics
  • Manage parts inventory, stock control, and purchasing decisions
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and professional shop environment

Required skills

  • Experience as a diesel shop manager or foreman
  • Strong leadership presence
  • Ability to coach, train, and develop technicians
  • Advanced knowledge of Class A heavy diesel trucks and reefer trailers
  • Strong communication skills with drivers, techs, and operations
  • Experience with scheduling, workflow planning, and productivity management
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with TMT, TTP, or shop scheduling systems (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED; technical schooling or ASE training is a plus
  • Valid driver's license; CDL-A is a bonus
