Job Description

Overview

As a Diesel Mechanic II at McLane Company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing trailer refrigeration and other mechanical systems. This position involves performing both routine preventative maintenance and complex mechanical repairs, contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization's operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration units
  • Diagnose, remove, repair, replace or rebuild mechanical components
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot cooling systems
  • Read and utilize service bulletins and technical manuals
  • Maintain shop tools and complete necessary paperwork
  • Comply with company safety rules and attendance policy
  • Be available for shop on-call rotation and make road calls as needed

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Trade school graduate in heavy duty diesel repairs and/or refrigeration classes
  • Current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) (Test T8) within 1 year
  • Class A license preferred
  • Certifications in International Maxx Force 13 Engines, Transportation Refrigeration, Brake Systems, Tractor A/C Refriger
  • Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively
