Job Description

Overview

Sysco Chicago is seeking a Diesel Fleet Technician II to perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on fleet vehicles in order to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. This role offers a stable opportunity to work with a leading foodservice distribution company and requires a combination of technical skills and expertise in diesel mechanics.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles
  • Conduct FAI/CVI inspections on all company-owned equipment
  • Diagnose and repair various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly
  • Document all work performed on work orders
  • Utilize Sysco computer programs for efficiency
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed

Required skills

  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
  • 2 years of formal training and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Annual Inspector Certification
  • ASE certifications (preferred)
  • Knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software
  • Proficient in electrical meter testing
  • Moderate knowledge in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems
  • Basic welding and cutting skills
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
