Job Description

Overview

The Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician II at Sysco is responsible for maintaining the safety and reliability of the company's fleet through preventive maintenance and repair. This role requires a strong understanding of various vehicle systems and a commitment to minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles
  • Carry out quality maintenance repairs to enhance safety and reliability
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups in a timely manner
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Document all work performed on work orders
  • Learn and efficiently use Sysco computer programs
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed

Required skills

  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in fleet maintenance or 3 years of related experience
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Annual Inspector Certification
  • ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle systems and components
  • Moderate skill in electrical systems diagnosis and repair
  • Basic knowledge of welding and cutting techniques
  • Familiarity with DOT and OSHA safety regulations
