Job Description

Overview

As a Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician II at Sysco, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of the company's vehicles through quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems to reduce downtime and improve fleet reliability.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize safety and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles per federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly and efficiently.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to meet manufacturer specifications across various systems.
  • Document all work performed on work orders and learn Sysco computer programs.
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as necessary.

Required skills

  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in fleet maintenance or 3 years of related experience
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Annual Inspector Certification
  • Brake Inspector Certification
  • ASE certifications (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle systems and components
  • Moderate knowledge of electrical systems, preventive maintenance inspections, and welding
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of DOT (FMCSA) and OSHA safety regulations
