Job Description

Overview

The Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician II at Sysco is responsible for ensuring safe and reliable vehicle operation through preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. This full-time position, offering a stable career within a growing company, involves diagnosing and addressing vehicle malfunctions to enhance fleet reliability and reduce downtime.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct FAI/CVI inspections in accordance with regulations
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report issues in a timely manner
  • Diagnose malfunctions and execute repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Document all work performed on work orders
  • Use Sysco computer programs efficiently
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed

Required skills

  • Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Annual Inspector Certification
  • ASE certifications (preferred, not required)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and diagnostic software
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle systems and components
  • Basic welding and cutting skills
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Understanding of DOT regulations
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
