Overview

The Diagnostic X-ray Technologist at OhioHealth prepares patients for examinations and performs diagnostic radiology procedures in accordance with established guidelines. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency while providing patient care and conducting various imaging studies.

Key responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic procedures and conducts routine radiographic studies.
  • Conducts specialized fluoroscopy studies using digital fluroscope equipment.
  • Maintains radiation safety for both operator and patient.
  • Obtains diagnostic radiographs by positioning patients and anatomical parts correctly.
  • Observes patients during procedures and responds to any changes, adjusting equipment as needed.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures clearly.
  • Processes images for interpretation and performs quality control tests on X-ray units.
  • Works with students enrolled in the radiography program.

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • Registered with ARRT and holds ODH Ohio Radiologic License
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and equipment
  • Ability to administer ionizing radiation and handle contrast media
  • Customer service skills and teamwork capability
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
