Overview

The Diagnostic Sonographer - PRN at Duke Health is responsible for the operation of sonographic equipment to perform and communicate results from diagnostic examinations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment within Duke Regional Hospital, a leading healthcare facility in Durham, North Carolina.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Conduct exams including abdominal, vascular, ob-gyn, and interventional procedures.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures based on patient needs.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to the Radiologist.
  • Ensure safety and comfort of patients during examinations.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and work area; manage supplies.
  • Assist in the training of ultrasound students and new sonographers.
  • Participate in departmental operations and maintain exam tracking and billing.
