Overview In this role you design, secure and optimize scalable AWS environments to support critical geoscience projects. You work closely with cross-functional teams to automate and streamline cloud operations, from infrastructure as code to containerization, data access, and cost-aware monitoring. You'll tackle HPC workloads (CPU/GPU) and ensure reliable, efficient compute for key business needs. Your work directly impacts customers and enables scalable, secure cloud solutions. ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and manage secure, scalable AWS environments with emphasis on security, networking and cloud operationsAutomate workflows using Python, PowerShell and BashManage S3 buckets, including cross-account accessImplement and optimize parallel computing with autoscaling groups, AWS Batch and CPU/GPU resourcesSet up monitoring and logs for job runs, service usage, EC2 metrics, durations and costsDevelop infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation and AWS CDKWork with AWS Aurora for PostgreSQL and write/optimize SQL queriesBuild and manage Docker containers and ECR repositories (image creation)Utilize AWS CodeBuild and have working knowledge of Azure DevOps Key requirementsStrong hands-on experience with AWS services and TerraformProficiency in Python; experience with PowerShell and Bash scriptsExperience with HPC infrastructure and parallelization (CPU/GPU)Solid understanding of cloud security, networking and operations best practicesExperience with infrastructure as code and containerizationFamiliarity with monitors, logs and cost management in AWSExperience with databases (especially AWS Aurora for PostgreSQL) and SQLKnowledge of Azure DevOps is a plusExcellent communication and critical thinking skills; proactive and accountableAble to work independently with minimal supervisionSkilled at gathering user requirements, building documentation and translating needs into technical solutionsHigh service orientation, collaborates with internal teams and participates in change review meetingsResourceful in navigation of internal processes and building relationships within the organizationCapable of advising on and building future solutions, from ideation to implementationExcellent communicationcritical thinkingproactive and accountableAWS servicesTerraformPython
