Job Description

Overview

Capability Health & Human Services is seeking a Development Specialist to provide home-based instruction and case management for children under three years old with disabilities. The role involves utilizing a family-centered approach to promote the overall development of children and support their families in accordance with Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate activities for children's overall development
  • Assess cognitive, physical, social, and language development of children
  • Promote family involvement and provide advocacy support
  • Conduct child assessments and create evaluation reports
  • Participate in home visitations and submit progress reports
  • Organize and maintain Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP)
  • Assist in setting up and facilitating playgroups
  • Attend staff and program meetings
  • Maintain consistent records and meet reporting timelines

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood, special education, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • Minimum one year of experience with children from birth to 3 years old
  • Minimum one year of experience with children with disabilities
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Valid Nevada driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
