Overview

The Development and Communications Senior Associate at Wisconsin Community Services is a vital role focused on grant writing and fundraising within a longstanding nonprofit organization. This position involves collaborating with human service administrators to develop proposals and cultivate donor relationships while supporting the organization's mission to provide innovative opportunities for individuals to overcome adversity.

Key responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop high-level, complex proposals
  • Write funding proposals and applications to various government entities and foundations
  • Perform research for funding applications
  • Assist in donor identification, cultivation, and recognition
  • Solicit donations, advertising, and in-kind goods/services
  • Support social media presence and marketing efforts
  • Lead special writing projects with senior leadership
  • Prepare media and press releases
  • Supervise interns within the Development and Communication Department

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in communication, public policy, social welfare, or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in proposal/grant writing and fundraising
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel) and design/presentation software
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and research techniques
  • Experience with databases and event software

What the company offers

  • Salary between $65,000 - $80,000, commensurate with education and experience
