Job Description

Overview

The Detentions Deputy at Clear Creek County is responsible for ensuring the safety and security within the detentions facility. Key duties include transporting inmates, supervising inmate workers, maintaining records, and acting as a court bailiff as necessary.

Key responsibilities

  • Transport inmates to and from various locations
  • Act as court bailiff when required
  • Supervise inmate workers and their duties
  • Enforce county laws and maintain security in the jail
  • Monitor inmate safety and conduct inspections of cell blocks
  • Log inmate activities and maintain accurate records
  • Administer medication as per medical instructions
  • Operate necessary equipment and maintain transportation vehicles
  • Participate in court testimony when called upon
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed

Required skills

  • Law enforcement experience (minimum 1 year)
  • CPR and first aid certification
  • Spanish or other foreign language proficiency is helpful
  • Knowledge of constitutional and case law related to law enforcement
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms
  • Proficient in using department computers and related technology
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with good judgment
  • Physical capability to restrain subjects when necessary
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Colorado POST certification desired
