Overview

Metromont is seeking a Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Winchester, Virginia. This entry-level position is an opportunity for associates to learn and assist with the engineering design aspects of projects, focusing on precast concrete solutions while being guided by experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design parking deck, building, and wall products and their connections
  • Independently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance
  • Review contract documents to understand project requirements
  • Attend and potentially lead project coordination meetings
  • Write requests for information (RFI) and respond to drafting subcontractors' questions
  • Resolve engineering design issues and assist others with project-related problems
  • Check accuracy and adherence to standards of others' engineering design calculations and details
  • Review and ensure compliance of erection drawings and shop tickets
  • Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations

Required skills

  • 0-3 years of relevant engineering experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering, structural emphasis preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Experience with engineering design software preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
