Job Description

Overview

Santander Holdings USA Inc is seeking a Senior Underwriting Associate for its Dealer Commercial Services division in Grand Prairie, Texas. This role involves managing credit risk for a portfolio of complex dealer groups, ensuring loans adhere to underwriting standards and evaluating financial statements and cash flow to make informed lending decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage credit risk and a portfolio of complex multi-dealer groups
  • Underwrite safe and sound loans by analyzing dealer financial statements and cash flow
  • Evaluate the risk of financing requests within the organization's credit culture
  • Prepare accurate proposals or modifications independently
  • Oversee the complete end-to-end underwriting process for annual renewals and new business
  • Review incoming loan application requests and supporting documentation
  • Analyze financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow of automotive dealerships
  • Monitor portfolio and review updated financials
  • Interface with customers and internal partners to obtain data for analysis
  • Review loan inquiries and respond to client requests
  • Manage past due loan reports and review loan documents

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, or related field
  • 9+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, credit structuring, and commercial underwriting
  • Experience in evaluating credit risk and loan collateral
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Products, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Customer service orientation
  • Experience preparing accurate reports and proposals
  • Ability to mentor less experienced team members
