Job Description

Overview

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Itinerant Teacher at Northwestern Illinois Association supports students with hearing impairments across 68 school districts. This role involves providing specialized instruction, collaboration with educational teams, and ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction and interventions to deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and specialists to support student progress.
  • Document all services, assessments, and interventions provided.
  • Participate in IEP meetings to offer expertise in accommodations and technology.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.

Required skills

  • Professional Educator's License (PEL) with endorsement for teaching students with hearing impairments.
  • Proficiency with school-based technology and office equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
