Description: Position Title: Database Developer/AdministratorReports to: Director of Enterprise DataJob Type: Full time (Contract or Contract to Hire is also available for the right situation)Job Location: Plain City Ohio - Hybrid work modelJob Description: The Select Sires Data Team is looking to add another database administrator to the growing team. The Data Team is made up of Data Analyst, Data Engineers, Data Warehouse Engineers, Data Scientist, and Database administrators. We are working to transition Select Sires, Inc. into a data-informed company using data as a competitive advantage. Such availability, stability, recoverability, maintainability, and performance are key to support all data activities. We have a mixture of on premises SQL Servers, Azure databases and Serverless Databricks data environment. If you want to leverage your existing experience with traditional database administration and help maximize the value of transitioning to the Azure cloud this role may be for you.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain availability, stability, recoverability, maintainability, and performance of database and servers to support transactional data systems, analytical data systems.Proficiency in classic on-premises SQL Server, including T-SQL programming.Experience with Azure SQL Database and its associated services.Familiarity with Databricks and its application in data engineering and analytics.Strong understanding of database design principles and best practices.Strong understanding of automation: Data pipelines, SQL DACPACs, PowerShell, Infrastructure as code (IaC)Knowledge of best practices for data security, user permissions, and compliance with data regulations.Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.Knowledge of principles of Transaction data systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and collaboration skills. Requirements: Required Education and Experience3 years of experience in administering, managing, and tuning SQL Server databasesExperience with: On premise SQL Server Instances, Azure SQL Database and Azure Managed InstanceExperience with Data replication, including SQL Server Merge Replication Publisher and subscriber configuration.Expertise in SQLExperience using automation: SQL Server DACPACs, Data Pipelines, PowerShell, Infrastructure as code (IaC)Experience with HA/DR SQL Enterprise is a plusExperience with SQL Monitoring technology is a plus (i.e. Red-Gate SQLMonitor)Implement and manage company data management practices and policiesDemonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problemsDemonstrated experience in tuning database and its objectsUnderstanding of databases indexes and index maintenanceGreat interpersonal and communication skillsPhysical Demands & Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipmentSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer workLight to moderate lifting is requiredRegular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictateModerate noise (business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)Ability to work in an open cubicle conceptAbility to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of timeTravel RequirementOccasional travel may be required DISCLAIMERThe job description is not intended to cover or describe all tasks, duties, and responsibilities the employee may be asked to perform.
