Job Description

Overview

As a Data Scientist focusing on Credit Risk Modelling at Farm Credit Canada, you will be responsible for building and improving analytical models to assess and manage credit risk. Your role involves working with complex data to create models that will support risk management and data-driven decision-making, collaborating closely with business and technology teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain credit risk models including Internal Rating, Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Exposure at Default (EAD)
  • Unlock insights from complex internal and external data for data-driven decision making
  • Apply advanced analytics techniques such as statistical modeling, machine learning, and forecasting to identify risks and opportunities
  • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, practical insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business leaders, technology teams, and external partners to implement analytics solutions
  • Apply analytical judgment to reduce ambiguity and support strategic and operational decisions

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, agriculture, or r
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or risk modeling
  • Strong understanding of Internal Rating, PD, LGD, and EAD in credit risk measurement frameworks
  • Proven experience building, validating, and interpreting statistical or predictive models
  • Strong foundation in statistics, mathematics, and analytical problem solving
  • Proficiency with SQL, SAS, R, Python, Power BI, or similar technologies
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments
  • Strong written communication skills for model development and validation documentation
