Job Description

Overview

As part of the Amazon global controls team, the Data Center Controls Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining critical systems, including the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to enhance the operation of AWS data centers and ensure reliable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis for BMS and EPMS issues
  • Train and assist internal customers with BMS and EPMS systems
  • Provide technical assistance and support throughout the data center lifecycle
  • Review quarterly maintenance results and resolve action items
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets related to BMS and EPMS
  • Manage execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects
  • Assist in procurement activities, including vendor proposals and purchase orders
  • Participate in on-call support for in-service data centers
  • Attend project meetings and report status to management
  • Support commissioning activities for controls projects
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and UI
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts
  • Visit data centers to ensure compliance with project scope and regulations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in project management within data centers
  • Knowledge of building management and electrical power monitoring systems
  • Expertise in critical data center equipment and operations
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
  • Understanding of engineering documentation and electrical diagrams
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations such as NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
