Job Description

Overview

As a Data Center Controls Engineer at Amazon Data Services, you will join a global controls team dedicated to maintaining and innovating within the data center environment. You will focus on the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS), while utilizing Amazon leadership principles to develop processes and standards in the controls space.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance for BMS and EPMS during the data center lifecycle.
  • Train internal customers on the design, configuration, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
  • Assist in procurement related activities including vendor proposal reviews.
  • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule for immediate BMS and EPMS support.
  • Attend project meetings and report status to stakeholders.
  • Review, implement, and iterate on controls sequence of operation.
  • Develop controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Visit data centers to supervise vendor work and ensure compliance.

Required skills

  • Experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • Current, active TS/SCI US Government Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation and electrical diagrams
  • Experience with HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems
  • Experience using industrial communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet, MODBUS)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • 4+ years of military experience
  • Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
