Job Description

Overview

As a Data Center Chief Engineer for Amazon, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure that supports global cloud computing. You will oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire safety equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively while managing routine and emergency operations within the data center.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
  • Oversee operation and management of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting.
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians.
  • Create and deploy standard practices for engineering operations.
  • Assist in building new facilities and projects to increase efficiency.
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures by all staff.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations.
  • Manage projects from conception to completion.

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products
  • 3+ years of experience in mission critical facilities with industrial electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and write procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
  • Experience in data center engineering or operations (preferred)
  • Experience in construction or project management (preferred)
  • Ability to lead technical teams
