Job Description

Overview

Sonora Quest Laboratories is looking for a Cytogenetics Medical Technologist to perform genetic testing in accordance with CAP standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in cytogenetics, including proficiency in various complex tests such as FISH, PCR, and NGS.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform genetic/genomic tests and analysis following laboratory procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in processing complex test results.
  • Document processes, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Meet productivity goals while adhering to department rules.
  • Support training for technical staff and identify improvement opportunities.

Required skills

  • Experience in Cytogenetics and genetic testing
  • Knowledge of Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH)
  • Proficiency in Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Understanding of Pharmacogenomics (PGx) and Chromosomal Microarray (CMA)
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific field
  • ASCP certification in cytogenetics or molecular biology
