Overview

The CT Technologist role at Ochsner Health involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This position also serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, emphasizing the importance of patient care and operational efficiency within the healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate CT equipment according to protocols
  • Review and ensure diagnostic quality of patient images
  • Complete quality control procedures in line with regulatory standards
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and staff schedules
  • Adapt behavior and communication style to specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable about federal, state, and local regulations

Required skills

  • Registered by ARRT or CT registry eligible
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in computers and radiology information systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility in work duties
