Overview

The CT Technologist role at Ochsner Health System in Kenner, Louisiana involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures in a safe and effective manner. The position also includes mentoring junior staff and students while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedural accuracy
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality before transmission
  • Complete quality control procedures in compliance with regulations
  • Facilitate departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt behavior to respect privacy and communication needs of patients
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and accreditation standards

Required skills

  • Proficiency in radiologic technology
  • CT procedure knowledge
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
