Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist position at Ochsner Health System involves conducting routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. The role requires interaction with patients, handling of imaging equipment, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images, along with serving as a mentor to junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine computed tomography procedures
  • Verify physician orders and assure accuracy of procedures
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocol
  • Review and ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and staff schedules
  • Adhere to compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in using computers and radiology information systems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work under pressure and self-direct
  • Advanced certification in CT (preferred)
