Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring quality imaging, and assisting with departmental operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform computed tomography procedures according to safety standards
  • Serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy of procedures
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate care
  • Explain procedures to patients for better understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment and ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the ARRT or ARRT registry eligible
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in using computers and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and medical terminology
  • Ability to work under pressure and be self-directed
  • Flexibility in work duties and scheduling
