Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a CT Technologist for their Weekend Program in Destrehan, Louisiana. The role involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This position also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to safety protocols.
  • Verify physician orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Use radiology information systems for patient care.
  • Operate imaging equipment independently and complete procedures as per protocol.
  • Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission.
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and staff schedules.
  • Adapt communication style to respect patient privacy and ensure understanding of procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and radiation safety.
  • Proficiency in using computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility in work hours.
