Overview

The CT Technologist position at Ochsner Health System involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to safety protocols. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, ensuring high standards of patient care and imaging quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images prior to transmission for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures in compliance with standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations
  • Maintain knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the role

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in computers and radiology information systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical terminology
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics
  • Flexibility in work hours and duties
