Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a CT Technologist for the St. Martin Hospital Radiology department. This role involves assessing patients and performing computed tomography procedures while ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols. The position also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images prior to transmission for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations like inventory and staff schedules
  • Adapt communication style to specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable on laws, standards, and compliance requirements

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by ARRT or ARRT registry eligible
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in using computers and software applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Flexibility in work duties and hours
