Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students within the radiology department.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure their understanding
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations such as inventory and staff schedules
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior staff and students
  • Adapt communication style based on patient needs and privacy

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • CT registry eligible within one year
  • Proficiency in using computers and radiology information systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility in work duties and schedule
