Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and conducting routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, highlighting the commitment to high-quality patient care and professional development.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Perform timely quality control procedures
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, ensuring respectful communication
  • Remain knowledgeable about current laws and accreditation standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or eligible within 90 days of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in using computers and web-based applications
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility in work duties and hours
