Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring quality care and compliance with regulatory standards in a patient-focused healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Verifies physician orders and procedure accuracy
  • Operates imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Reviews patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Completes quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Facilitates departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapts behavior to specific patient populations
  • Mentors junior staff and students

Required skills

  • Proficiency in computed tomography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
