Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a CT Technologist to join their team in Slidell, Louisiana. This role involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols. The technologist will also serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocols
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory and scheduling
  • Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable on compliance and accreditation standards

Required skills

  • Proficiency in radiologic technology and computed tomography
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to work flexibly, including nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics
