Overview

The CT Technologist - PRN role at Ochsner Health System involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. The position also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing to patient care, and ensuring compliance with medical standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Use radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocol
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist with departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable of laws and regulations affecting the role

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Proficiency in using computers and software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Flexibility in work schedule and duties
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • ARRT certification or registry eligible status
