Overview

The CT Technologist role at Ochsner Health System involves assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures while ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols. This position serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students and requires the ability to work under pressure and maintain effective communication with patients and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocol
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality before transmission
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population
  • Stay informed on compliance with current laws and regulations

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry eligible within one year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in using computers and software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and safety protocols
