Overview

The CT Technologist position at Ochsner Health System focuses on assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures with a strong emphasis on radiation safety and clinical mentorship for junior staff and students. This role is essential for maintaining high-quality imaging standards and ensuring patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to protocols
  • Serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy in procedures
  • Utilize radiology information systems for patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients for understanding and comfort
  • Independently operate CT equipment and complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images prior to transmission for diagnostic quality
  • Maintain departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adhere to compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Report any unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct

Required skills

  • Completion of approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT imaging experience
  • Computer skills and data entry proficiency
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work under pressure and self-directed
  • Flexibility in work duties and hours
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current unrestricted state license
  • ARRT registration or eligibility for CT certification
