Overview

The CT Technologist - PRN role at Ochsner Health System involves assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. The position also includes mentoring junior staff and students, emphasizing the importance of patient care and technical proficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures
  • Verify physician orders for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems for patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Operate imaging equipment according to established protocols
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Conduct quality control procedures per regulatory standards
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and scheduling
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Required skills

  • Completion of approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • Registered by ARRT or CT registry eligible
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Computer skills for data entry and retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and Doppler physics
