Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine computed tomography procedures following established safety protocols. This role also includes mentoring junior staff and students, highlighting a commitment to both patient care and professional development.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedure accuracy.
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol.
  • Explain the procedure to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and staff schedules.
  • Adapt communication and procedures based on specific patient populations.
  • Remain knowledgeable on relevant laws and accreditation standards.

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in computers and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
