Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a CT Technologist for a PRN position in Waveland, Mississippi. This role is critical in assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures, adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and providing clinical mentorship to junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to protocols
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy of procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients for understanding
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met
  • Assist with departmental operations such as inventory and staff schedules
  • Adapt communication and behaviors to different patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable about current laws and regulatory standards in the field

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry eligible or registered within 90 days of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency and data entry skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
